Three-Zone Mitsubishi Mini Split Installation with Roof Line Routing

Installing a multi-zone mini split system is typically much easier when a home has attic access. However, this project required a completely different approach because the house had no attic, making the installation considerably more challenging.

To provide efficient heating and cooling throughout the home, we installed a three-zone Mitsubishi heat pump system consisting of one outdoor condenser connected to three indoor wall-mounted units. Since there was no attic available for routing the piping, all refrigerant lines and communication wiring were run through the roof.

Each line set was carefully secured, properly supported, protected from UV exposure, and routed neatly to its designated indoor unit.

Special attention was given to every roof penetration. Each opening was professionally sealed and waterproofed to protect the home from future leaks while ensuring a clean and durable installation.

Another key aspect of this project was condensate removal. Because gravity drainage was not possible, condensate pumps were installed for all indoor units. This allowed us to place each unit in the optimal location while maintaining reliable condensate removal and system performance.

After completing the refrigerant piping, electrical connections, pressure testing, vacuum evacuation, and system commissioning, each indoor unit was thoroughly tested to verify proper airflow, quiet operation, and accurate temperature control.

The result is a modern Mitsubishi three-zone heat pump system that provides independent climate control for three separate areas of the home while using only one outdoor unit. This helps preserve exterior space and maintain a clean appearance of the property.

Every installation presents unique challenges. Homes without attic access require careful planning, precise workmanship, and attention to detail. Taking the time to complete every step correctly ensures long-term reliability and stable system performance.

Homeowner Tip: If your home doesn't have an attic, that doesn't mean a ductless mini split system cannot be installed. With proper planning and professional installation, refrigerant lines can be routed through the roof or other alternative pathways while maintaining efficiency, reliability, and a clean finished look.
