What is a SPAN Smart Panel?

SPAN replaces your existing main electrical panel with a fully connected one. Every circuit is individually metered and controlled, so you can see exactly where your home is using power and turn any circuit on or off from a phone — no more fumbling for a flashlight in the garage to flip a breaker.

Under the hood it is still a UL-listed, code-compliant 200A service panel — but with smart breakers, sub-second energy monitoring, and an app that surfaces the data clearly. It is the foundation for an EV charger, solar, and battery backup to actually work together instead of fighting each other.

EV Charger + SPAN Integration

Adding a Level 2 EV charger often triggers a panel or service upgrade because the math on paper exceeds your home's available capacity. SPAN's dynamic load management measures real-time usage and throttles the EV charger automatically — letting many homes add fast charging without an expensive service upsize from PG&E.

When you add a second EV, a heat pump, or an induction range later, the same logic applies. SPAN prioritizes loads on the fly, so you keep adding electrification without re-pulling permits and tearing into the meter every time.

Solar & Battery Backup Ready

SPAN integrates cleanly with Tesla Powerwall, Enphase IQ batteries, and most major solar inverters. During an outage, the panel automatically prioritizes the circuits you care about — refrigerator, well pump, EV charger, office — and sheds the ones you don't, so your battery lasts hours longer.

From the app you can re-prioritize circuits live during an outage, monitor solar production by the second, and watch how every kWh moves between panels, batteries, the grid, and the car. It is the closest thing to a real energy dashboard for a home.

Panel Upgrade + SPAN Installation

A SPAN install is a real service change. Our licensed electricians handle the full project — load calculations, permits with your local jurisdiction, PG&E coordination and meter pulls, the disconnect and re-energization, and the final inspection sign-off. You don't manage the city; we do.

Conduit and grounding are rebuilt to current NEC standards, the meter base is replaced where needed, and every existing branch circuit is re-landed onto SPAN smart breakers and labeled in the app. We commission the system with you and walk through the app before we leave.

Why it matters

Why this is worth doing right.

Avoid service upgrades

Dynamic load management often lets you add an EV charger or heat pump without upsizing to 320A or 400A service.

Real energy visibility

Per-circuit, second-by-second data — not a single whole-home number you can't act on.

Backup that lasts longer

Automatic load prioritization stretches a Powerwall through a multi-day PSPS event without manual breaker juggling.

Future-proof

Built for the all-electric home: EVs, solar, batteries, heat pumps, induction — all on one intelligent panel.
