Not just new equipment — a system done correctly.

Main Panel Replacement

Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Pushmatic, and certain Challenger panels are documented fire hazards. Replacement is a safety upgrade, not just a capacity upgrade — and a known item on most home inspection reports.

Replacement scope includes service grounding, bonding, and main bonding-jumper work that aging panels almost universally lack. Inspectors flag these items consistently, and quietly fixing them during a panel upgrade is part of how we close out the permit cleanly.

Service Upgrade (100A → 200A)

We coordinate full 100A→200A and 225A service upgrades with PG&E, including meter-main, weatherhead, mast, and grounding work. Permits are pulled, inspections are scheduled, and the work is documented.

PG&E coordination, meter spotting, temporary disconnect scheduling, and permit closeout are handled by our project manager — not the homeowner. We have run enough of these to know how each utility yard processes the paperwork and how to keep the project on schedule.

Sub-Panel Installation

We install sub-panels for ADUs, garages, workshops, EV charging, and high-load appliances. Smart load management is deployed where capacity is tight so projects can proceed without a full service change.

Sub-panel installs are routed for minimum conductor length, code-required working clearance, and future serviceability. Where we deploy smart panels or load-management devices, the configuration is documented in the panel directory and on the homeowner's records.

NEC 220 load calculation worksheet alongside the 2023 National Electrical Code, a load-calc calculator, and panel schedule on an ABC Service engineer's desk.

NEC 220 Load Calculation

ABC Service performs NEC 220 load calculations against your real and planned loads — heat pumps, induction, EV charging, HPWH. A panel upgrade should be sized for what comes next, not just what plugs in today.

Our load calculations include planned EV charging, induction cooking, heat-pump conversion, and ADU loads — the work that determines whether a 200A service is genuinely adequate or just adequate today. The upgrade is sized so the homeowner isn't back in a panel discussion five years from now.

Panel Upgrade
Why it matters

Why this is worth doing right.

Capacity for electrification

Heat pumps, induction, EV charging, and HPWH all need real capacity. A panel upgrade unlocks the rest.

Removes known fire risk

Older and recalled panels are documented fire hazards. Replacement is a safety upgrade, not just capacity.

Code compliance

Modern panels include the AFCI, GFCI, and bonding required by current code — not by 1985 code.

Resale value

An inspected 200A+ service is documented value at sale and removes a common inspection-report flag.

Extremely clean boiler installation and excellent communication throughout. They engineered the system properly instead of just swapping a unit on the wall.
