We recently completed an important repair for our friends at Loma Brewing Company in Los Gatos. This popular spot is known for its fresh craft beer and great food, so keeping the indoor climate comfortable is key — especially with the summer heat approaching.
The Issue:
During a routine inspection of the air conditioning system, we discovered that one of the rooftop units — RTU #3 (Trane, model YSC072A3ELA1M000000000000) — wasn’t responding. It turned out the power to the unit had been disconnected at some point. Once we ran a full diagnostic, our technicians found two major problems:
- ⚠️ A refrigerant leak, which was preventing the system from cooling effectively.
- ⚠️ An incorrect filter had been installed earlier, reducing efficiency and potentially causing long-term damage.
How We Fixed It:
To restore the system and get it ready for summer, we performed a full set of services:
- ✅ Replaced the filter with one of the correct size and specifications.
- ✅ Repaired the refrigerant leak using a specialized repair kit.
- ✅ Fully prepped the system by removing any remaining air and moisture from the lines.
- ✅ Recharged the system with fresh R-422B refrigerant (10 lb) — a modern, approved replacement for the outdated R-22, compliant with current environmental regulations.
- ✅ Cleaned the unit’s coil to restore maximum performance.
The total cost of the repair came in under $2,000, keeping things fair and transparent as always.
