Air Conditioning Diagnosis and Repair – Wiring Short and Condensate Pump Failure
The customer reported that the central air conditioning system stopped cooling. The thermostat was set to cool, but the system was blowing warm air, and the outdoor unit fan was not running.
During the diagnostic inspection, the system was tested step by step, starting from the thermostat and control board, and continuing to the outdoor condenser unit.
The issue was found to be more complex than a simple capacitor failure.
Diagnostic results:
✅ The control board was not sending signal to the outdoor AC unit
✅ Low-voltage wiring between the furnace and outdoor condenser was damaged
✅ The damaged wiring caused a short circuit
✅ Because of the short circuit, the condensate drain pump failed
✅ The wiring runs underneath the house and must be fully replaced
✅ Condensate drain pump replacement is also required
