We recently completed multiple rooftop unit (RTU) repairs for one of our long-term commercial clients in Los Gatos, California.
Two rooftop units — RTU-1 and RTU-22 — were experiencing failures in the indoor blower control system. In both cases, the blower motor frequency control modules had failed. For this equipment, original OEM modules were either discontinued or not economically practical to replace.
Instead of recommending full unit replacement, we implemented a reliable engineering solution that restored proper operation while keeping costs under control.
Scope of Work
- Design and assembly of a custom emulation system to replace the failed frequency control modules
- Installation of the emulation system on each rooftop unit
- Functional testing and system verification
- Restoration of stable blower operation and proper airflow
All work was completed within a short timeframe, allowing the client to minimize operational downtime and avoid unnecessary replacement of otherwise serviceable RTU equipment.
The cost of each repair was under $700.
This project demonstrates how professional diagnostics and custom HVAC solutions can extend the service life of older commercial rooftop units, even when OEM parts are no longer available.
